Q: I run inter-substation VF protection relay links on BT landlines. As part of its CN21 program, BT is removing support for copper lines and wants us to move to an IP connection. This is no good. We need fixed latency not available with an IP network. Do you have a point-to-point radio solution that we could use?

The Wood & Douglas full-duplex Scanlink radios have a build version for just this application. They have a flat audio response to handle the common four-pair Voice Frequency (VF) signalling used in the electricity utility field. Signal to noise ratio is excellent and latency is a minimal fixed 7ms. They operate on the UK’s licenced UHF radio channels. Call our sales office for more details.
